Handmade Chocolate Truffles at Slice of Life

I have consistently been making truffles these years that I wasn’t keeping up with my website, I swear 🙂 Occasionally doing a market or event here or there & custom orders for some repeat customers. I just attended a workshop called Self Promotion for Artists (some of you know I am also an artist – follow me on Insta: @trishmitchellmosaics) and it inspired me to get my butt in gear and keep up with this website so…

There is a fantastic art event at Slice of Life 1636 Venables St called Valentines is Just a Conspiracy to Make More Scorpios aka: the Scorpio Conspiracy! This Saturday Feb 3rd 2024 from 7-11pm

Over 20 artists, DJ pumpin’ some fine jams, cash bar and… my delicious handmade truffles!

The Health Benefits of Chocolate by Dr. Rhonda Lowe

According to Nielsen Research, more than 58 million pounds of chocolate candy will be sold during Valentine’s week. But buying chocolate doesn’t just have to be in the spirit of love – there are convincing health benefits to eating this sweet indulgence.

A review published in the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews found that the antioxidant properties in dark chocolate can have a positive impact on blood pressure in the short term. It seems an association between the cocoa polyphenols in chocolate and a natural chemical in our blood helps our arteries expand and relax. And according to studies published in the European Heart Journal and Journal of Nutrition, eating as little as a ÂĽ oz. (about 10 grams) of dark chocolate per day can help to lower your blood pressure, improve blood flow to the brain and heart and boost memory, attention span and problem-solving skills.

But make sure you give your loved one the right kind of chocolate. Dark chocolate is rich in the cocoa liquor that contains the polyphenols (you can tell by the bitter taste), but it needs to have at least 70 per cent cocoa for you to reap the health benefits. Milk chocolate doesn’t have the same effect because it doesn’t have as much cocoa liquor, and white chocolate doesn’t contain any cocoa liquor at all.

I know!?! Shocking that it’s that time of year again (already?)

Someone asked me yesterday if I was taking orders for Christmas parties and stocking stuffers yet…and I said no, not yet (let me get through Halloween first)!?!

Then I realized that actually, it’s not so far away and people are probably planning or attending parties, work events, potlucks, mailing packages ect. so, YES! I am going to gear up to take orders for holiday events, celebrations, thanks-yous, stocking stuffers ect, ect… and lets not forget about New Years Eve. Most people throw or attend some kind of gathering or shindig – what a lovely treat for a special night.

What a great way to show someone how much you care than sharing chocolates that are handmade with love right here…so bring on the holiday orders !
